Kingston Evangelical Church (KEC) began in 1969. We are a group of people who believe in Jesus Christ. In Him we believe God came to earth and took on a human nature to be the Saviour of the world. The Bible teaches our need for a Saviour because the human race has sinned and is out of harmony with its Creator. Only through faith in Jesus Christ can we be forgiven of sin and discover God’s good plan for us and for this broken world.
We have come together as a local church to serve and worship God, to love Him, to love people and to bring Christ’s gospel to others. We include different ages and backgrounds, people from a number of different nations, as well as many parts of the UK.
The preaching and teaching of the word of God is at the heart of Christ-centred worship services at 10.30am & 6.30pm every Lord’s Day. We enjoy both traditional and some newer hymns and songs. We meet together occasionally for lunch following the morning service. There is a Sunday School and child care for children, 0-11 years during the morning service and a Sunday School that meets from 2.30pm-3.30pm, with classes for ages 4+. There are coffee/tea/biscuits and a time of fellowship following the evening service.
In addition to the weekly meeting for Bible study and prayer on Wednesday at 7.30pm, there are Bible/discipleship/evangelistic studies from time to time, meeting in homes or in the church. We believe that prayer is vital and so there are other prayer meetings often throughout the year. A young people's group for 11+ meets at the Church on Tuesdays 7.15-8.30pm. There is a Parent & Toddler Group that meets at the Church for children aged 0-5, in the Fellowship Hall, on Wednesdays 10am-12pm during term time.
There is an informal Coffee Morning every Thursday from 10.30am till noon at the church. Everyone is invited to drop in when you can and have a coffee/tea, a biscuit and a chat.
This has included literature distribution and door-to-door visitation, evangelistic meals and services, summer youth camps, Holiday Bible Clubs and friendship evangelism. We believe in Christ’s call to make disciples of all nations and therefore support missionaries in other parts of the world and also enjoy hearing from missionaries at meetings throughout the year. Former KEC people are serving Christ in other lands. We also have joint meetings focused on missions and other themes throughout the year, with other evangelical churches in the area.
Whether you are a student looking for a church while at University, a life long resident of Hull or anyone in between, we’d love to see you at any of our services/events. If you have any questions about the church or the Christian life, please feel free to contact the pastor, Dennis Hill. Dennis has been at KEC since September 2002. He began in ministry in New York City in 1988 and has been pastoring in Britain since 1992. His wife, June, is from Halifax, West Yorkshire. They have two children, Ruth and Daniel.
